Piz Ault -Trail

The panoramic summit tour of Piz Ault - located between Val Medel and Val Plattas - begins in Curaglia.

Up to the summit of Piz Ault we first walk on forest roads and later on hiking trails. At the top, the view is clear of the Medelser chain with numerous other snow-covered peaks.

It remains breezy on both sides until we reach Fuorcla dalla Buora. The descent to Alp Puzzetta is quite steep at first and the Val la Buora is immensely wild and pristine. After a forest, we reach the striking red building of the Puzzeta goat alp. A little below, we branch off to the May pastures of Peinzas and thus return to our ascent route.

Option 1: From Piz Ault back to point 2113, into Val Plattas to Alp Sura and back to Curaglia.

Option 2: From Alp Puzzetta further down the valley to Fuorns and back to Curaglia by post bus.

A nice summer tour, as you quickly gain altitude and there is usually a pleasant wind on the ridge. But it is precisely the "Indian Summer" of the birch trees above Curaglia that make the round a dream tour even in autumn.

From the centre of the village we follow the signposted hiking trail in the direction of Pardatsch and Medelserhütte. After the large carpenter's workshop, at the next bend in the road, a hiking trail leads off to the right to Gliarauns. As soon as we reach the junction at the road, we keep to the right. After a long loop on the west side of the ridge, the road changes back to the east side, where we must not miss the unmarked direct paths, the shortcuts. Otherwise, we stay on the road until the junction of the hiking trail to Piz Ault. Continue on the ridge to Fuorcla dalla Buora and westwards into Val la Buora to Alp Puzetta. A little below the alp we branch off to the right. At the mountain pastures of Peinzas Dado we turn right again, this time uphill. This is followed by about 250 meters of ascent until we reach our ascent route again, on which we descend to Curaglia.
