Piz Languard

Access

From the Forcola Pass (Livigno), pass the Swiss customs in the direction of Pontresina, until you reach the

Parking: Bernina Diavolezza, where you will leave your car.

There is the possibility of arriving by "red train" from Tirano, but I recommend that you ask or look for more precise information on your own.

Description of the ascent

After leaving the car, cross the road in a northerly direction to follow a path that starts not far from the car park, marked by a special sign. Continue along the fairly evident road until it turns into a path and begins to climb in a N-W direction surrounded by the green summer meadow.

After passing a stretch of path with chains, you arrive at some small lakes on your right, ideal for admiring the view and having a snack downhill, after which you arrive at the "Fuorcla Pischa" and always following the signs for Piz Languard, continue along the path until you reach a branch, a point where the path that comes from Pontresina or Alp Languard at about 2900 m above sea level connects.

Here you turn north, on the steep path that zigzags up the steep S ridge of Piz Languard, until you reach the Chamanna Georgy. Following the signs to the left of the hut, climb the final aerial ridge and with a last traverse to the right you reach the summit.

Or you can opt to follow the path that arrives in Pontresina and by train, return to the car, or descend via the Pontresina-Alp Languard chairlift and get to the car by train.

Notes 

Ninety meters below the summit, on a rocky terrace, is the Chamanna Georgy, which for many tourists is already the terminus of a beautiful hike. The stretch of ridge that leads from the hut to the summit is in fact quite aerial and exposed, although in two or three places there are metal ropes. However, nothing particularly demanding and within the reach of every good hiker.
