Rund um den Silsersee

From the village square Sils-Maria direction Sils-Baselgia, then slightly high on a section of the Via Engiadina up to Grevasalvas. The picturesque summer settlement (1941 m) with its old houses covered with stone slabs became known as the filming location for the local film "Heidi". This hamlet belonged to Bergeller farmers. Unfortunately, the pastures are hardly used anymore, the houses are used as summer apartments.

A little later you come across the alpine road to Plaun da Lej, which you now follow down to the next intersection with a sign. Turn right here into the undescribed short forest path that leads along a mountain stream to Buaira, a hamlet with a few houses. The almost invisible path then leads straight up to the edge of the forest and again turning left at the altitude back. Or you can cross the meadows immediately after the houses, if they are mowed, to the left up to the edge of the forest. Much to the annoyance of the residents, there is no proper signposting. At the top of the hill you can see some beehives in front of you, the forest path becomes more clearly visible again. Follow this path through larch stands to the right. Then suddenly it goes downhill a steep path through rocks and comes to the hamlet of Splüga. Then hike towards Cadlägh near Maloja on the path, which offers a beautiful view of Lake Sils. The Piz da la Magna is also impressively behind it. Once at the bottom, cross the road and walk to the right along the left side of the road towards Maloja. At Cadlägh in a left turn to the lake, then the southern shore of the lake and through larch forests continue to Isola. The small hamlet is picturesquely situated on a peninsula that the Fedozbach has heaped up. It is a settlement of Bergeller farmers who graze their cattle here in summer. 

The path then continues along the lake, back to Sils-Maria.
