Schneeschuhtour Cumbel - Sogn Carli

If you want to take a look at snowshoeing, this is the place for you. The tour has no difficulties and can be done as a beginner's tour without any problems in good weather and safe avalanche conditions. The views from the chapel at S. Carli are also overwhelming.

In the village of Cumbel, you first walk along the Quartierstrasse to the entrance just before the Plaun Rueun picnic area. Now you climb up the beautiful southern slopes with snowshoes on your feet. Again and again, warm wooden facades of the stables invite you to rest before you reach the Sogn Carli chapel after about 1.5 hours. The panorama over the town of Ilanz, the Rhine Gorge and the magnificent 3000m peaks of the Sardona chain is unique in the Surselva.

Now the way back runs over a short stretch with loose forest near Curschias and further over open alpine meadows back to Cumbel.

After longer sunny phases, the lower slopes are often without snow. You can then hike up to the snow without snowshoes. Or you can take the summer hiking trail for a while and then switch to snowshoes.
