Description

The tour starts at the old sawmill above Surcuolm. There is no flat start here. The route immediately climbs uphill, although there are always a few meters to recover. The route takes you through forest clearings, past old stables and across wide alpine meadows. It is always worth taking a look back, as the panorama is very impressive everywhere.

From Pastira Sura onwards, the ascent and descent routes separate. We recommend that you first turn left towards Cuolm Dado. These slopes are better suited for the ascent. The pink-colored posts, sometimes flat, sometimes steeper, now lead you under the former Sasolas ski lift to the Bündner Rigi. The restaurant invites you to take a break and enjoy one of the best views in the Surselva. Please check the opening times.

The way back is the same at the beginning. Immediately after the ski lift cable, turn left towards Cuolm Sura. The Cuolm Sura mountain restaurant again offers the best refreshment options before the tour leads directly back to Surcolm.

This snowshoe tour is marked with pink posts in the terrain, but is not groomed. There are some steeper slopes. If there is a high avalanche risk, tours in unsecured terrain must be avoided.

Anreise Information

By car from Ilanz to Valata, turn off uphill and drive to Surcuolm.

Parking

In Sucuolm in the village center at the old schoolhouse, at the church and at the old sawmill. There are only a few parking spaces available at all three locations. The ski bus and the post bus are free of charge for everyone during the winter season.

The traditional newly converted guest house with apartment is located in the mountain village of Surcuolm, in the middle of the ski resort Obersaxen Mundaun-Val Lumnezia. The excellent location at the end of the toboggan run/valley run Piz Mundaun allows access for all guests.

In summer, an attractive hiking and biking area is available on the doorstep.

The inn has two rooms with a total of 30-35 seats, a new modern gastro kitchen and a natural sun terrace with a panoramic view.
