Details
Description
Immediately after the start at the village square, the first steep ascent is tackled. Soon you reach the hiking trail that leads past the Rongg Chapel and the "Abersch Hus" into the Peil Valley. Further into the valley and now climbing less steeply, you pass the May settlement "Uf der Matta" and finally, directly above Inder Peil, you reach the summit of Alp Wallatsch. The view now opens up to the impressive mountain landscape of the Fanella and the path leads steadily across the alpine pastures. The increasingly stony terrain goes hand in hand with the sparse aesthetics of the historic military installations, which are located below the Valserberg. Arriving at the top of the pass, you finally have a wonderful view of the Passo del San Bernardino and the surrounding peaks of the Valsertal and Rheinwald. The next 900 metres of descent to Hinterrhein can be covered on well-maintained single trails and alpine roads.
