Details

Description

The start of this trail begins with a leisurely ascent - ideal for warming up. The leisurely pace comes to an end at Tea Nascha: there are around 150 metres in altitude to climb to the Val Maisas shepherd's hut, where there is also a self-service (drinks) filling station.  From here, a single trail climbs slightly towards Rossboden, where the trail becomes steeper and steeper. The highest point is the former ‘Rote Seeli’ at 2573 metres. The lake used to turn red in summer due to an algae, but now the hollow is often almost dry. If you would like to add another 200 metres in altitude for an extra kick and a great view, head up to the Rossbodenjoch. Via Schwarzwand, the trail leads along the eastern flank of Val Maisas back to the Hirtenhütte and back to Samnaun village via the same alpine road.
