An absolute classic and a challenging stage of the Alpine Bike Route No. 1. A must for every biker.
Details
Description
Once we have left the busy pass road at the height of Alp Milez, the sweaty ascent into Val Maighels begins. However, you should still take some time in Plidutscha to listen to the falling waters of the very young Rhine. Or to pause for a moment when the mountain scenery is so beautifully reflected in the clear lakes below the Maighels hut. And we also treat ourselves to a snack at the Maighelshütte.
Afterwards we follow the route further into the valley, soon we have only a single trail under our wheels and at some point we may have to push a few meters to the Maighels pass. For the upcoming descent into the Unteralp valley, less strength, but more technique is required. Also descending is allowed in between.
A natural road, which later becomes a paved road, leads us out of the valley to Andermatt. At the train station we load the bike with the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn and return to the starting point. Or we add a downhill ride from the Oberalp Pass on the pass road to Sedrun or Disentis.
