Vättis-Loipe

Experience untouched nature in the Tamina Valley.

In winter, there is peace and quiet up here. There is a cross-country ski trail on the valley floor; away from it runs a small road, which, however, is not cleared black in winter, but prepared as a winter hiking route. From the starting point Vättis, there are a total of about 20 km of cross-country ski trails (Kunkels 10 km and Gaspus 7 km) as well as a 2 km long night trail.

When the snow disappears on the Tödi in spring, the meltwater begins an adventurous journey. For ten years, it flows through the subsoil, enriches itself with minerals and heats up to 36.5 degrees, until it bubbles up from the ground far away in the Tamina Gorge. From there, it is transported by pipeline to nearby Bad Ragaz, where it promotes the well-being of bathers in the Tamina thermal baths.
