Vättis-Loipe

Experience untouched nature in the Tamina Valley.

In winter there is peace up here. A cross-country ski run is laid out in the valley floor; away from it runs a small road, which is not cleared black in winter, but prepared as a winter hiking route. From the starting point Vättis there are a total of around 20 km of cross-country ski trails (Kunkels 10 km and Gaspus 7 km) as well as a 2 km long night trail.

When the snow disappears at Tödi in spring, the meltwater embarks on an adventurous journey. For ten years, it flows through the subsoil, enriches itself with minerals and warms up to 36.5 degrees until it bubbles out of the ground far away in the Tamina Gorge. From there, it takes a pipeline to nearby Bad Ragaz, where it promotes the well-being of bathers in the Tamina Thermal Baths.
