Directions

From the station in Schiers you follow the signs to The Bridge of the Gorge of Salgina. After about 500 metres you leave the village and turn left in the direction of the gorge of the river 'Schraubach'. After passing a gravel pit you walk along the river until you get to the hut of the lime kiln. This is where the tour starts. The historic tour is signposted right from the station Schiers and leads you from this hut within about one hour round the world-monument back to the starting point. The cliimb to the vantage point follows an the right side of the Salgina gorge. The short detour to this platform is signalled and the additional few metres are worth it because from this point the bridge is presented from an outstanding angle. After having taken a number of fotos you continue the climb to the bridge. The view from the bridge down to the gorge is simply outstanding ! Your gaze roames down for more than 90 metres where you make out the river. It is possible to make a detour under the bridge, the cavity is partly accessible and most impressive. On the right of the bridge the footpath takes you back to the valley. Now you can look back and be astonished at the engineer's skill which has granted  the population of Schiers the only World-Monument of Switzerland.
