The Chapel of Santa Maria Maddalena al Calvario, erected on the terraced lawn of Rossa, was built in the eighteenth century and subsequently transformed in 2019 with the colors of the artist David Tremlett.

Description

Passing through the recently renovated area of the vestiges of the town and the terraces of the Catata area, you arrive at the Chapel of Santa Maria Maddalena al Calvario, built in 1691. The uphill path allows you to broaden your view of the town and the valley, ensuring that the journey to the chapels also becomes a journey of discovery of the area. This chapel is located in a dominant position over the village and conceptually represents the closure of the inhabited part of the valley. The work is composed of geometric motifs made with warm colors, superimposed on an amaranth and green base.

On July 14, 2019, on the initiative of the RossArte Foundation, an artistic intervention was made on the external facades of 3 religious buildings: the chapel of San Carlo al Sabbione, the chapel of the Madonna del Sangue e del Rosario and the chapel of Santa Maria Maddalena al Calvario. An operation carried out by the Anglo-Swiss artist David Tremlett, characterized by the superimposition of shapes and colors on built architecture. Two-dimensional drawings that, once on the walls, become real sculptures. The chapel of the Graces has been completely revived with geometric motifs made with warm colors, superimposed on an amaranth and green base.
