The schoolhouse as a centre Originally, the building served as a schoolhouse for the community. It was a place of education and gathering.

1994

The birth of "The Tomato". In 1994, a striking change came to Tschlin – the introduction of "The Tomato", a striking, red multi-purpose building next to the former schoolhouse. This versatile building quickly became a cultural centerpiece, especially for musical activities. The outstanding acoustics made it the ideal stage for musical performances. The community slowly began to develop into a music village.

Around the 2010s

Chinese influences Around the 2010s, Tschlin experienced unusual cultural influences. An adventurer from Scuol dared to take the step to Tschlin and brought two monks from China and other parts of Europe with him. Together they performed exercises such as Tai Chi, Chi Kon, Kung Fu and other Far Eastern practices. The catering was also inspired by Chinese. Unfortunately, this project met with little interest, and the monks left Tschlin after two years, leaving the initiator with high debts.

Present and Future: The Chasa Tschlin as a Musical Meeting Place

In the recent past, Chasa Tschlin has developed into an important centre. Currently, the house is rented out through Engadin Booking as group accommodation for school camps, for example. However, an exciting change is emerging. In the future, the Chasa Tschlin will not only be a place for overnight stays, but also a meeting place for musicians in the village. It is planned that music societies will be able to reside here and use the inspiring environment.

In addition, there is a culinary enrichment with the Ustaria Tschlin. A dedicated restaurateur has opened a restaurant in Chasa Tschlin. This restaurant is not only a culinary hotspot, but also another attraction for musicians and visitors to the village. The future of Chasa Tschlin thus promises a harmonious combination of music, hospitality and culinary delights. With these promising developments, the repositioning of Chasa Tschlin as a musical meeting place and culinary meeting point actively promotes the transformation of Tschlin into a flourishing music village.
