Description

The Lake on 2'249 m asl lays in a side valley of the middle Schanfigg. The lake is surrounded by alp meadows, so no uliginous vegetation could build up. The clear and cold water glimmers turquoise on the schistose rocks and black-green serpentine below. The lake came about by a stowage of a lateral moraine. There is a shallow of unknown size in the western part and the lake is icecovered during upt to eight months per year.
