Description
History
The Carolingian Urbarium mentions a royal church in Riein. The patrocinium of St. Nazarius first became known in 1487 and is the only one of this name in Graubünden. No recognizable parts of the early medieval structure remain. The choir was rebuilt at the end of the 15th century.
Description of the building
The north-facing building consists of a rectangular nave and a recessed choir closed on three sides, above which rests a star vault of two bays. The windows close in depressed pointed arches. The door to the tower is round-arched with a Gothic chamfer. The tower stands on the west side of the choir and the main part is probably still Romanesque. The onion-shaped spire was rebuilt in 1881.
Modern fittings, two prismatic screw-cans, 1780, with the initials H C.Bells from the Theus brothers, 1881.
