Between Feldis and the Dreibündenstein, they suddenly loom before you: thirteen tall, slender female figures made of Feldis larch wood.
Description
They stand impressively and proudly in the vast landscape, as if they have always been there. The fact that their naked bodies are weathering does not bother the women. They have become part of nature and will remain so forever. Powerful. Touching.
In groups of three and four, these women occasionally talk to each other. They talk about how fire, earth, air and water rule over Feldis, how the elements make life on the mountain easier and more difficult at the same time. The conversations were overheard and are recorded on panels.
The sculptor Stefan Hübscher created the archaic-looking women with his chainsaw. He lives in Basel, his studio is in Alsace. Christine Wullschleger, who listened to the women and wrote down their conversations, lives in Zurich. Both have had close ties with Feldis for years as holiday guests.
