Concert in the church of Sent | MASTERPIECES

Description
Jan Hoijtink – piano
Helma Leenhouts – violin
Anne Roos Hoijtink – violin
Thanks to ever-improving travel opportunities, musicians were able to maintain many friendly contacts in the 19th and early 20th centuries. This led to mutual inspiration, e.g. in Robert Schumann, Clara Schumann-Wieck, Ernest Chausson, Pauline Viardot Garcia, Eugène Ysaye.
Due to ever better travel opportunities, musicians in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries maintained many friendly contacts, which led to international performances and inspired new compositions. A good example of this is the Poème op.12 (1892–1896) by Eugène Ysaye, which is dedicated to Gabriel Fauré and in turn served as a source of inspiration for Ernest Chausson's Poème op. 25 (1896). The violinist/performer Eugène Ysaye played the world premiere of Chausson's Poème and this masterpiece is considered his most popular composition. For our concert, a program has been put together for which the relationship between artist, customer and composer is the starting point.
Helma Leenhouts and Jan Hoijtink have been a duo for violin and piano since 1985. Helma studied violin at the conservatories of Amsterdam and Rotterdam. She received the graduation certificate 'Master' as a performing musician. Jan Hoijtink is a teacher at the Amsterdam University of Music and completed his solo master's degree and chamber music master's examination in 1981.
Anne Roos Hoijtink completed her violin master's degree at the Utrecht University of Music in 2023. She was invited to do so in response to her bachelor's degree (laude) of 2021. At the invitation of the University of South Florida and after the USF scholarship audition, she studies, lectures and works in various formations such as piano trio, string quartet and in various orchestras, often as concertmaster. Anne Roos performed as a soloist with the G minor Violin Concerto by Sergei Prokofiev. Helma, Jan and Anne Roos have performed individually and together in the Netherlands, England, Germany, France, Estonia, Switzerland and the United States.
After the concert, the KulturBus will take you free of charge to Scuol, Ftan, Ardez and Tarasp. Register at the box office.
