The glamorous comeback of the Canzone Classica Napoletana.

The name of the trio from Naples, founded in 2016, roughly means "The Dream of Yesterday" and refers to the song of the same name on Pino Daniele's debut album "Terra Mia" (1977). The three young musicians have dedicated themselves entirely to the research and contemporary reworking of the traditional Neapolitan songs. The instrumentation is reminiscent of the Neapolitan tradition of "posteggia", street and tavern music, which was particularly popular in the 19th century, and which appealed to the people as well as to the rulers.

The musical approach of the trio, however, is much more polished. Suonno d'Ajere want to free the old songs from commerce and kitsch and give them back their dignity and power, and with great success: in Italy, the stylistically rigorous and refined combination of folk and art music that has always been typical of Naples has already earned them a performance at the Venice Biennale for the film music for the documentary "La Chimera" and first prize at the "SanremoCantaNapoli" festival.

The debut album "Suspiro" was released worldwide in 2021 and promptly nominated for the German Record Critics' Award. Since then, Suonno d'Ajere have been permanent guests at showcase events and festivals around the globe and have established themselves as the new ambassadors of Neapolitan song abroad. The follow-up album "Nun v'annamurate" ("Don't fall in love"), which was also highly praised by critics, was released in spring 2024 and is dedicated entirely to the topic of love in all its facets.

Gian Marco Libeccio – classical guitar
Gian Marco Libeccio played the guitar from childhood and discovered the classical guitar and classical Neapolitan songs at an early age. At the Naples Conservatory of Music, he graduated with distinction in jazz music. He plays live in various ensembles, including JFK & La Sua, Bella Bionda and XHU.

Irene Scarpato – vocals
Irene Scarpato studied jazz as well as modern and opera singing at the Naples Conservatory of Music and has already been awarded numerous music and poetry prizes in her home country. Her voice can also be found on soundtracks, including the film "La Chimera" shown at the Biennale di Venezia in 2017 and in "Veleno" (Diego Olivares).
