TANGO DE AMOR – Annette Wunsch & Goran Kovačević

With this musical-literary evening, the well-rehearsed stage duo Wunsch/Kovačević takes us to Buenos Aires, the capital of tango, and explores winding paths of love.

"How could one describe music that eludes every rule of harmony, every calculable dramaturgy? That prevents our feelings from settling in, that always startles our thoughts, that forbids our fingers to patronizingly tap along with the beat? And which can change completely from one second to the next, drag on and off again, get stuck and then race away immediately afterwards, sometimes dissolute, sometimes cold, now full of joie de vivre, now full of longing to die?"

These are the questions asked by the narrator in Esther Vilar's novella, who not only seeks to fathom the vibrant attitude to life that is inherent in tango music, but as a former mathematics professor is also looking for a mathematical formula for "lasting love". However, this formula is infinitely difficult to live by: there is a sure way to bind another to you. You can't show him that you want to bind him to you! Nina Gluckstein has been able to keep herself and her great love – the tango musician Chucho Santelmo – at the height of love happiness for many years. But the price for this is high!
