Vocal Ensemble Winterthur "L'amour, la mort e la vie"

With these three keywords, the Winterthur Vocal Ensemble fills an entire concert. The singers from the lowlands, some with Graubünden roots, will perform on Saturday, August 31 at 5 p.m. in the beautiful church of Son Martegn in Savognin.

The Essence
The church with cemetery above the last houses of Savognin is the ideal place to combine the three keywords "L'amour, la mort e la vie" with the voices of the ensembles.
The ensemble consists of around 20 singers from the Winterthur region. They are happy to carry music from the Renaissance and Baroque periods for once under the wonderful painting of paradise by Carlo Nuvolone.
The church with cemetery and breathtaking view of the Surses and further supports the songs, some of which are sung in 5 voices. Location, music and the concepts of love, death and life merge into a wonderful experience for all the senses.

Full luggage
In addition to musical notes by Monteverdi, di Lasso, Downland and Bach, the ensemble also carries a number of musical instruments in its luggage. The ensemble sings partly a cappella as well as accompanied by historical musical instruments, always under the direction of Beat Merz. However, the current programme will also feature two contemporary compositions by Kurt Nysted and Philip Glass.
One of the musical highlights are certainly the three parts from the madrigal cycle "Sestina" by Claudio Monteverdi and a part from the madrigal comedy "Amfiparnaso by Orazio Vecchi.

From Winterthur to Graubünden
The fact that a choir like the Winterthur Vocal Ensemble is making its way to Graubünden may seem a bit surprising at first glance. At second glance, however, you quickly discover different connections. Various singers have Graubünden roots and the whole mini-tour was organized by Pia Plaz from Savognin. With the trip to Savognin, the Winterthur Vocal Ensemble has also given itself a gift for its 40th anniversary.
