Description

Day 1: After a short descent from the Oberalp Pass to Alp MIlez, we put on our skins and follow the markings to the Maighelshütte. With the sun on your face, you can easily progress far into Val Maighels, sometimes with steeper, sometimes with longer flat sections.  It drags on until we can climb up to the Maighels glacier at the height of the Piz Alpetta. In regular hairpin bends we gain altitude, our destination, the Piz Borel, is right in front of us.  We head for the saddle on the far left and make a ski depot. Now we cross the rocky and partly airy ridge to the summit. At the summit cross, a panoramic view awaits us with Ticino peaks in the south and far-reaching views as far as the Oberalp Pass and the Maighelshütte in the north.

The descent over the snow-covered glacier is a dream. But unfortunately the valley floor is so flat that we have to mount the skins again to the Maighelshütte. We end the day with a cozy hut, fine food and good conversations.

Day 2: We are in no hurry, because the ascent to Piz Cavradi is not particularly challenging, which is very convenient for us after the long tour the day before. At the top, on the wide summit, we enjoy the view of the Surselva before we swing down into the north-facing hollow and later over the wide ridge to Tschamut.

From Tschamut there is a train every hour to return to the Oberalp Pass.
