The mountain bike season can be extended on the southern slopes of the Val Müstair, even if there is already snow or still snow in other regions. The tour to Alp Tabladatsch offers everything that a great bike tour should: the best views, long and flowing trails and a pleasant ascent.

Description

For the tour up to the southern slopes of the Münster Valley, begin with the ascent via Valchava to Lü. In the mountain village of Lü, turn right and continue on a small alpine road up to Alp Tablatdatsch at 2245 metres above sea level. Here you have a wonderful view of the Val Müstair and the Ortler opposite. Magnificent! This is where the long descent to Müstair begins, even if it initially turns out to be more of a fun-filled singletrail traverse. You pass the Lai da Valpaschun to reach Alp Terza Sura. You now ride out of the valley on a gravel path until the start of the single trail down to Müstair on the left. This is marked as a hiking trail and leads past Ruinatscha directly into the centre of Müstair. That is where Danny MacAskill jumped the frontflip in the video Home of Trails. It’s a first-class trail that can often be ridden on almost all year round when there isn‘t much snow. You follow the road back to the starting point in Sta. Maria or, a little later, the official mountain bike route that runs parallel to it.

HOME OF TRAILS

Incidentally, this tour ends at the house in Müstair, where Danny MacAskill did a front flip in the "Home of Trails" movie.
