Description

On historic slopes and trails along the Alps, through the Berchtesgadener Land National Park and the Kitzbühel Alps, over the Wildkogel to the Gerlos and into the Zillertal - over the almost continuously mobile Pfitscherjoch to the south side of the Alps to the very high transitions on the Schneeberg and Eisjöchl. Through the Vinschgau to the Dynamite Trails on the Stelvio Pass and into Switzerland - through the entire Bernina Group to the Upper Italian lakes (Lago di Como - Lago di Lugano - Lago Maggiore - Lago di Orta). Over the Pennine Alps to the southernmost 4,000m peak (Gran Paradiso) and high above the Aosta Valley to the grande finale - MONT BLANC - the roof of the Alps. One of the most beautiful long-distance trips on a hammer-hard route!

Geheimtipp

ATTENTION: the transition to Lake Maggiore over the Alpe Fontana includes a verhauer - where about 1km after the Alpe the Fontana the track leads directly into rough terrain (shrubs - rock breaks), just keep on the hiking trail 50 m upwards (not drivable), and then directly on gravel road back to the track!!!!

On Lake Maggiore, pay attention to the travel times for crossing by ferry!

Sicherheitshinweis

A head for heights is absolutely necessary, as very exposed passages! Dignified riding technique required - heavy single trails.

Ausrüstung

due to the very high altitudes, it is essential to take alpine equipment (warm clothes) with you!

Directions

Public Transport

does not make anyone on this tour - bike transport in Italy very problematic!

Anreise Information

on the A10 - Tauernautobahn near Salzburg Gröding and take the B305 to Berchtesgaden - starting point of the tour

Parking

Parking in Berchtesgaden is chargeable in many places and very expensive - it is best to have your shuttle to the starting point, the way back from Courmayeur can only be started with a shuttle anyway!
