Details

Description

Starting from the village of Rossa in Val Calanca, near the historic parish church of San Bernardo, the path begins to climb the mountain and enters a lush coniferous forest. The vegetation becomes less dense as you get closer to Alp de Calvaresc Sott where the trees give way to vast meadows. Then continue along the path that climbs to Alp de Calvaresc Sora which is also the most challenging point of the route, as you will have to walk on wet rocks, helping yourself if necessary with chains set in the rock. Once the climb is over, you reach a panoramic terrace from which you can enjoy a magnificent view of the peaks of Val Calanca. From here it is a short time to Lagh de Calvaresc.

When you arrive at Alp de Calvaresc Sott it is also possible to take a road that leads to the Buffalora Hut, the only alpine hut in the Calanca to be managed during the summer.

Geheimtipp

You can climb in a few minutes to the left mouth of the lake to get a fantastic perspective. The body of water will seem to turn into a real blue heart.

Sicherheitshinweis

Following the path that climbs to Alp de Calvaresc Sora, at an altitude of 1950 meters, you have to walk on some wet rocks and there is a chain to which you can attach yourself to facilitate the walk.
