Details
Description
The route leads along cycle route no. 6 from Thusis to the Viamala Gorge, an impressive natural monument where the Hinterrhein carves its way through the massive rock masses. At the visitor center, you can descend the gorge on foot to marvel at the traces of the water in the steep rock faces and feel the power of the water.
Our tour continues to Zillis, where St. Martin's Church from the 12th century stands with its unique ceiling painting. From Zillis, we continue to the lower Schamserberg to Donat and on via Clugin to Andeer. A visit to the Andeer mineral baths provides relaxation.
The route then continues via the pretty mountain village of Pignia to Zillis and back down the cantonal road via the Viamala Gorge to Thusis.
Alternatively, the route between Thusis and Rongellen can also be covered on the Viamala trail through the Verlorna Loch, which is not open to traffic.
Highlights along the route:
Geheimtipp
Stop off at the Alte Post inn in Zillis and fortify yourself with home-made capuns, a traditional Grisons specialty.
Sicherheitshinweis
The route runs from Thusis to Zillis on the cantonal road. Please be aware of passenger and factory traffic.
