Description

You could make a circular route out of it. However, this is rather challenging to plan because of the sparse public transport connections. Therefore, we recommend planning the route either from the sunny mountain village of Siat or from the chapel Sogn Francestg on the road to Pigniu.

You continuously climb over alpine meadows. It never gets boring, though, as the regular steeper slopes constantly require good route planning and keep your mind alert. The view becomes more and more magnificent the higher you get. Brown burnt barns with their warm wooden facades regularly invite you to take a break.

We end the route description here at P.2322. But you could continue along the Fil da Rueun depending on avalanche danger, weather development, and condition.

Hidden Gem

The route can be abandoned at any time. Many turn around in the area of Alp da Rueun. Thus, the route can be individually adapted.

Those who prefer a point-to-point route can implement this perfectly. Due to the sparser postbus connection to Pigniu, we recommend doing the route rather from Sogn Francestg to Siat.

Stopping at the Ustria Steila in Siat is a good conclusion to the route.

Caution wildlife sanctuary zone: The area between the route descriptions (Run Sut, Valdun) is a wildlife sanctuary zone and access is prohibited from 20.12. to 15.04.

Safety Note

Ski and snowshoe tours in unsecured terrain require good knowledge in assessing avalanche danger and tour planning. Furthermore, a complete safety equipment must always be carried - regardless of the current avalanche danger.

We recommend the APP and website of WhiteRisk for preparation and planning of the route.

For carefree enjoyment, we recommend our mountain guides and snowshoe hiking leaders of the Surselva region.
