Details

Description

The hike leads from the scenically beautiful, green Val Müschauns with good observation opportunities for ibexes over a pass crossing at 2857 m above sea level with a magnificent view into the Bernina massif.  in the barren and lonely Val Sassa, whose name "Valley of Stones" is no coincidence. Partly huge scree heaps line the path and in the upper areas of the Val Sassa there are often still snowfields even in summer. Over the rock glacier, the path leads down into the Cluozza valley and on to the hut of the same name. The Chamanna Cluozza was built in the birth years of the national park as a park ranger's house and today serves as accommodation for hikers. From Chamanna Cluozza, the trail continues (usually after an overnight stay) to Zernez.

Note: Dogs are not allowed in the Swiss National Park, not even on a leash. For more information and all protections, see nationalpark.ch/schutzbestimmungen.

Geheimtipp

After an overnight stay in the Chamanna Cluozza, we recommend continuing via the Murtersattel (see route "Murter") to car park 3 on the Ofenpassstrasse.

Sicherheitshinweis

Directions

From the S-chanf train station (1662 m above sea level.M) via prasüras car park (1668 m above sea.M level) in the valley floor of val Trupchuns to Alp Purcher. After a wooden bridge, the turnoff follows to the north, away from the valley path in Val Trupchun, into the imposing Val Müschauns. By larch-pine-pine-pine-

Forest and later through leg pine stands upwards. From the stream crossing (almost 2100 m above sea level.M.) the path becomes steeper, and between 2300 and 2500 m above sea level.M quite rough. This route is responsible for dividing the route into the difficulty level white-blue-white. The ascent makes the use of hands necessary in individual places. At a key point, a permanently installed rope provides additional support. From 2600 m above sea level.M. the view opens into the basin of the Val Müschaun. The path continues through rubble ridges up to fuorcla Val Sassa (2857 m above sea level.M.). Just below the Fuorcla is the Lai da Müschauns, one of the few standing waters in the national park. On the other side of the Fuorcla, the not always clearly recognizable path plunges into the valley of the stones, the Val Sassa. Soon it leads over an imposing geological phenomenon, the longest rock glacier in Switzerland. At the small ground of Plaun Sassa, the Val Sassa and the Val dal Diavel (Valley of the Devil) meet. The route flows into the Val Cluozza and follows the stream to a bridge (1835 m above sea level.M.). Then a short counter-ascent to Chamanna Cluozza. It is advisable to stay here – advance notice urgently required (www.cluozza.ch / Tel.  +41 (0)81 856 12 35). From the Chamanna Cluozza the path leads in another 2:30h walk time to Zernez (see route "Chamanna Cluozza").
