Glacier Bike Tour Stage 2. Bergün - Thusis

Right at the start, the route takes you onto more challenging terrain for the first time. The forest track leads beautifully through the forest above Bergün. For those with "off-road" experience, it is very easy to ride, but you have to stay focussed and brake in a controlled manner to negotiate the bumps and stones and the sloping terrain.

Back at the Albula, the pedalling is still easy. Shortly afterwards, the road on the sunny side of the Valbula valley winds its way up to Brienz for about 1 kilometre.

The mountain village of Brienz has probably been familiar to everyone since 2023, when the steep slopes above the village started to move massively. On the GBT stage, you can see the extent of this right before your eyes.

From Brienz, the route continues to Lantsch/Lenz and through the Roland Arena, a central training centre for top athletes and junior athletes. The finish, Lenzerheide, is not far away, but we still have a wonderful additional loop through the forest.

There has to be a detour on this stage - to one of Graubünden's landmarks, the Landwasser Viaduct. So you turn off the cycle path at Filisur, cross the road and head straight down the short path into the Landwasser Valley to the famous six-arched bridge of the Rhaetian Railway. The pillars rise 65 metres into the sky, as elegant as they are impressive. 60 Albula Railway trains a day emerge from high above and disappear after 136 metres into the 216-metre-long rock tunnel.
