Details
Description
Often you only hike over the famous Greina or through the even more famous Rhine Gorge. On this multi-day tour, you'll experience both natural phenomena. From the very top to the very bottom.
It starts with an eventful journey from the Rabius-Surrein train station by alpine bus to the Val Sumvitg. After an hour of running in, it's a sweaty climb up the mountain to the Terrihütte, your first overnight stop.
The second day begins with the suspension bridge "Punt la Greina". Those who have made it can now hike to the Diesrut Pass, from where you can overlook the famous Greina plateau in a particularly beautiful way. Now it's down to Puzzatsch. Here you have the opportunity to take the alpine bus to Vrin. Or you can take the one-hour walk to Vrin or Sogn Giusep, your next overnight stop.
The third day is marked by the ascent to Péz Sezner and the well-known ridge walk to Piz Mundaun - probably one of the best panoramic points in the Surselva. You can either take the cable car down to Cuolm Sura or hike to the same place in about an hour. Here the simple hotel room is waiting for you.
The fourth day begins with the descent to Ilanz, the first town on the Rhine. This part can also be covered by post bus from Surcuolm. From Ilanz, the well-known hiking trail leads more and more into the depths of the Rhine Gorge. Until you finally stand under the sandstone cliffs up to 300 meters high. The Rhaetian Railway now takes you back to the starting point in Rabius-Surrein.
Geheimtipp
If you prefer something a little more leisurely, you can shorten the tour by bus alpine (Puzzatsch-Vrin), the mountain railway (Piz Mundaun-Cuolm Sura) and the post bus (Surcuolm-Ilanz). If you only want to hike the heart of the Rhine Gorge on the last day, take the train from Ilanz to Valendas-Sagogn and then hike in about 1.5 hours to the end of the tour in Versam.
Sicherheitshinweis
In uncertain weather conditions, the tour should not be started. Weather changes in the mountains are frequent. If a rain front or similar comes up during the hike, you should turn back in time.
Ausrüstung
Good hiking boots with good profile, weather-adapted clothing (rain jacket), first aid kit, drink, food, ev. Hiking poles, hut sleeping bag.
