Description

The route starts from the village of Grono and heads towards the center of Nadro, then continuing along the Strada vegia. Just below the village of Castaneda, between the cantonal road that connects the valley floor to Castaneda and the old forest road that connected the valley floor to the internal Calanca, there are the remains of old mills. Continue the hike along the Via Capela del Scer parallel to the cantonal road above, until you reach Santa Maria in Calanca, a village dominated by a fascinating architectural complex that includes a medieval tower and the parish church. This part of the route will offer beautiful panoramic views of the Mesolcinese valley floor. We then head towards the village of Verdabbio passing through rigorous chestnut woods and continue the descent in the direction of Leggia, where crossing the Moesa river, we continue the walk along the verdant country roads. In a short time you reach the Pascolet floodplain, a leisure area where you can meet numerous species of fish, amphibians and birds. Finally, you cross the Moesa river a second time to return to the center of the village of Grono.
