Chamanna Jenatsch vom Gipfel des Piz Traunter Ovas

The Haute Route Graubünden is an exceptionally beautiful and varied ski crossing that has it all: an impressive landscape, alpine peaks and racy descents.

The description takes place in five stages.

For the 1st stage of the Haute Route Graubünden we chose an alternative ascent to Chamanna Jenatsch, which we can highly recommend.

Directions

From Alp Güglia to N to point 2543 m. Continue through a small valley in the O des Muottin. Past Crap Alv and over a steeper slope to the area below Corn Margun. Finally, keep right directly into the Fuorcla Margun 2945 m. From here in inclined drive (attention Wechten) about 100 m down to NW and continue to the Fourcla Traunter Ovas cross. Over the initially steep W-slope to the summit of Piz Traunter Ovas 3152 m.

Descent over the western slope of traunter Ovas, then follow the departure route of Piz Surgonda. At 2800 m to NO to Chamanna Jenatsch (follow the wooden posts). Only in very safe conditions can the Chamanna Jenatsch be reached directly from here even in an inclined drive over the steep eastern slope.

Departure variant: from the Fuorcla Traunter Ovas eastwards follow the stream of the Ova Traunter Ovas up to P 2555 m. Here on the left side of the stream down to P 2330. Short counter-ascent to Chamanna Jenatsch.
