Description

We start either in the idyllic mountain village of Pigniu or from the parking lot below the dam wall. The variant from the dam wall shortens the tour by about two kilometres on the valley road.

There are more imposing dams. But that should not be the attraction of this hike. The landscape becomes charming from the top of the wall. Because then you will see the impressive rock faces that surround the reservoir for the first time. A leisurely gravel road leads to the far end of the lake. There you can treat yourself to a longer break at the barbecue area and bathe your feet in the cold mountain water. During the snowmelt in early summer, the streams back here carry a lot of water. The water dust from the falls then drifts over the steep mountain slopes below the rocks. It is an impressive natural spectacle.

We continue over the stream bridge and the beautiful hiking trail along the western side of the river. If you miss the first fireplace, you get another opportunity for barbecue fun at the end of the dam. The hiking trail now leads down a little steeper for a short time and back to Pigniu via small roads. If you have driven to the dam wall by car, you can either walk over the top of the wall to the car or further down back up to the parking lot.

Geheimtipp

In spring, the bridge at the end of the lake is often still dismantled and the path is not accessible. This tour will then be automatically closed.

The rating "suitable for prams" is only true if you do not walk back over the west bank. However, the road from Pigniu and the eastern bank (gravel road) is suitable for prams. Before the dam wall, it is preferable to take the access road to the top of the wall and not the hiking trail across the meadow.

Sicherheitshinweis

In uncertain weather conditions, the tour should not be started. Weather changes in the mountains are frequent. If a rain front or similar comes up during the hike, you should turn back in time.
