Details
Description
We hike up to the asphalt road that leads to the Curnera reservoir. The dam was built in 1966 and now belongs to the Axpo Group. From the road you can still see the terraces where the barracks stood during construction. In 2014 the dam was briefly seen in the film "Edge of Tomorrow", in which it was used as a supposed hiding place for aliens. The rocky slopes on the other side of the valley are the El Dorado of local prospectors. Don't be alarmed, blasting takes place every now and then on weekdays.
Before the lake we turn onto a hiking trail that first takes us steeply up and then steeply down into the Val Platta. We leave the Maighelshütte to the left for now and continue climbing towards the summit where the trail disappears in the upper section and we follow the red and white markings on the boulders. They lead us safely to the summit of Piz Cavradi. The view is simply wonderful! We descend the same way to the Maighelshütte and stop for a coffee. Afterwards we take the road down the valley until we can turn off onto a hiking trail to Tschamut.
Short version: From the Oberalp Pass, take the direct route to the Maighelshütte and onto Piz Cavradi. The same route back.
Geheimtipp
If you stay overnight in the Maighelshütte and climb to the summit early, you can experience the most beautiful sunrise in the Surselva.
Museum La Truaisch, Sedrun (mineral exhibition) open: Tuesday and Friday 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Sicherheitshinweis
Sure-footedness is required in the upper section.
Ausrüstung

Directions
We take the hiking trail that leads down into the valley on the left from the pass road. After the bridge over the Rhine, we go up to the left until we reach the asphalt road that leads to the Curnera reservoir. Before we reach the lake, we turn right onto the hiking trail towards the Maighelshütte. This takes us to the Val Platta from where we follow the signs to the Maighelshütte. After the hut, we follow the white and red markings to the summit. We descend to the hut on the same path, then take the road to the turnoff to Tschamut.
