Directions

From the starting point at Albergo Falconi, walk up the road through Sottoponte to the arched bridge that leads to Protomogno. On the left side before the bridge follow the signpost to Soglio. There is a large chestnut tree there. The path leads over the consistently stony, quite steep but well secured path and mainly through wooded rock area, over a scree heap up to the pastures of Soglio. It always offers beautiful views of Bondo and the opposite duo Piz Badile and Cengalo. Up in Soglio it is worth walking through the alleys and enjoying the peace. There are several refreshment stops and the Postbus station, who does not want to hike down again.

If you prefer a picnic, walk east at Palazzo Salis in the direction of Caccior, where there are some benches with beautiful panoramic views of the Bergell. There are closing times for entering the meadows and pastures in the summer months.

The descent then takes place in the direction of Caccior (also Stampa) via an initially quite flat, later steep, old mule track. A stepped path over various hairpin bends leads down the slope to the houses of Caccior. The signs to Stampa are now ignored and follow the nature trail in the direction of Promontogno and back to the starting point. Unfortunately, the chestnuts are only ripe in the valley. Since we come back to the chestnut tree at the bridge at the starting point, we seize the opportunity and fill our backpacks with the freshly fallen chestnuts.
