Welcome to the source of the Rhine!

Life is a journey, they say. If this is true, you should take a break from time to time on this trip - and linger in the Rheinwald. Here you are, after all, at the source of life. Here rises the Hinterrhein, one of the most important source rivers of the Rhine, which connects millions of people over 1200 kilometers.

The secrets of the Rhine can be experienced on the 4.5 kilometre long Rhine source path between Hinterrhein and Nufenen. And you can easily discover the picturesque villages Hinterrhein, Nufenen, Medels, Splügen and Sufers. In and at selected fountains there is information about the villages.

Any hiking trail closures/restrictions or diversions can be found here.

The Rheinquellweg starts at the entrance to the village in Hinterrhein or at the village fountain in Nufenen. The theme trail can be walked in both directions. The route is signposted.
