Description

The hike starts in the village centre of Splügen. Splügen was awarded the coveted Wakker Prize by the Swiss Heritage Society in 1995. On the sunny side of the valley, walk along the Roman road (also part of the «Via Spluga») towards the Sufers. On the right side of the road you can see the imposing castle ruins of Splügen. Through the snowy fairytale forest it goes leisurely downhill to Sufers. The hike ends at the village fountain in Sufers. Enjoy the winter landscape and the view of Lake Sufnersee. You can return to Splügen by PostBus or on foot on the same route or around Lake Sufnersee.
Catering facilities are available in Sufers and Splügen.

Information on the condition of the winter hiking trails in the Rheinwald can be found here.
