Description

We did this tour a little differently in June 2018: https://www.outdooractive.com/de/mountainbike-transalp/montafon/trans-engadin/116817554/

Stages:

1. Schruns - Silbertal - Schönverwall - Zeinisjoch - Ischgl.

Old mining areas, today a lonely valley, the landscape of "Schlafes Bruder". First rest at the Heilbronner Hütte possible, until then pushing stretches at the Langsee and when leaving the Ochsental (approx. 2:00). Then into civilisation: to the Zeinisjoch, above Galtür and later along the river to Ischgl. 55km, 1700hm, 7-8 hours.

Alternative in case of bad conditions: Partenen - Silvretta Höhenstrasse - Galtür - Ischgl, if necessary also at Partenen with the cable car for a tunnel visit and Vermunt reservoir.

2. Ischgl - Fimbatal - (maybe Greitspitz) - Heidelberger Hütte - Fimberpass - Val Sinestra - Sent - Scuol - S-charl

Depending on the weather and condition, the cable car offers great views on the ridge to Samnaun. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FCO0z5eplO4 )

Otherwise, the valley floor is more picturesque. From Gampenalp there are not so many ski slope summer deserts.

Rest at the Heidelberger Hütte, which often offers culinary highlights. Push back to the Fimber Pass, beautiful downhill (saddle down, then almost everything is rideable). In the afternoon uphill to S-charl. A total of a good 60km, each variant 2000hm or more (plus track), 8-9 hours.

In bad weather: avoid the Fimber Pass and take the cable car directly back down to Samnaun, quieter descent in the Lower Engadine.

3. Pass da Costainas - Alp Champatsch - Alp da Munt - Ofen Pass - Jufplaun - Alp Mora - Lago di Cancano - Torri di Fraele - Val Viola - Saoseo.

Nature Day, many lonely places in the national park. No alternative :-)

Update: we drove through the Val Mora in 2018 and then only got as far as Arnoga - after we heard in S-charl that the paths to the Ofen Pass required some pushing. However, there seems to be a largely drivable route (description: http://www.vttour.fr/sorties/pass-chaschauna-ou-passo-cassana,1461.html)

75km, 2000hm, 7-8 hours

4. Poschiavo - Bernina Railway - Piz Campasc - St Moritz - Zuoz.

The Tourism Day. Trails down to Poschiavo, with the World Heritage Railway (departure from 6:28 every hour, duration just under 1h) to the Bernina Pass, leave your bikes there and climb to the Piz Campasc (2.5h, T2-T3, http://www.hikr.org/tour/post111272.html and http://www.hikr.org/tour/post86492.html).

Glacier view on the way to St Moritz, perhaps a tour of the lake, and then through the Upper Engadine towards the Scaletta Pass. 60km, 700hm, 4h on the bike and 2-3h climbing.

Alternative: Skip Poschiavo, Zug and Berg and in the early afternoon over the Scaletta Pass to Davos.

5. Zuoz - Scaletta Pass - Davos

A nice finish, shorter pushing distances at the pass, end the day in Davos. 35km, 1000hm, 4h. Depending on your mood and departure / accommodation from Davos continue through the Zügenschlucht to Filisur, 30km, 800hm, 3h.

Alternative: Those who have already come to Davos the day before have a free choice. e.g. over the Strela Pass to Arosa, and in Prättigau an old cultural landscape under rugged mountains. 1300hm, 43km, 5h. Or a piece of Epic Trail towards the Albula Valley.
