Skitour von Hinterrhein zum Rheinwaldhorn (ZS)

It is advisable to plan an overnight stay in the SAC Zapporthütte.  This route requires a high level of experience and alpine equipment such as crampons, hiking ice axe, rope, etc. In many cases, a ski depot is also required. The route via Waffenplatz is flat but long. If you want to avoid this, you can ask for a ride from a regional taxi company. Otherwise, you start at the north portal of the San Bernardino tunnel and cross the Waffenplatz following the Hindrhe to the end of the valley. Then you cross a small gorge to the 1960 point before the "Höll". From here you go up to point 2097. In Dachach you can go directly up to the Zapporthütte if the snow conditions are safe. Otherwise you can go around it. From the hut, follow the ribbon to the Hinterrhein. Then to the source and finally to the end of the valley. Through an ascent first to the north and then to the southwest, you reach the summit ridge and finally the summit.

A two-day tour with an overnight stay in the Zappor hut is recommended.

Parking lot of the north portal of Hinterrhein (possible shuttle through the shooting range) - Cross the range to point 1719 (ATTENTION: respect the shooting times) - Follow Hinterrhein to 1960 before Höll - Then in the direction of point 2097 - Direct ascent to the Zapporthütte in snow-sure conditions (otherwise bypass) - Follow the tape to Hinterrhein - To the source - To the end of the valley - Ascent north to 2700 m - Climb southwest to the ridge of the summit - Follow the ridge to the summit
