On the way in the Rhine source region with a visit to the Maighelshütte.
Details
Description
In Tschamut we start with a short descent to the Rhine. Along the lively water we walk over pastures and through alpine rose bushes uphill. At the height of Alp Milez we meet the access road to the Maighelshütte, which we can leave again and again. At Plidutscha we relax briefly on a flat section and two to three curves further we already see our intermediate destination, the Maighelshütte. After a refreshment, we continue on the way, it goes up to Lake Toma, which offers very special colors and weather moods at any time of the year. Unbelievable - the lake is also the source of the Rhine and this water travels over a thousand kilometers to the North Sea! For us, however, it is not quite so far - towards the Oberalp Pass, our valley run begins quite loosely, first over a stony path, later on a high-altitude path to just before the top of the pass. The following route, which partly runs along the route of the old railway line to Chamut, is almost affectionately called "Seniorenweg" by the locals. But we feel very comfortable here, the path is ideal for a relaxed run-out.
Geheimtipp
We find refreshment with a jump into the water of the Lai Urlaun. The Maighelshütte with cappucino and fruit cake provides culinary delights.
Sicherheitshinweis
The trail runs from approx. open in mid-June. Individual snowfields are then still possible. There is enough water along the way.
Directions
From Tschamut we follow the signposted hiking trail to the Maighelshütte. Below the hut we meet hiking route no. 49, on which we walk until just before the Oberalp Pass. As soon as we reach the pass road, we switch to the other side of the road and find the hiking trail here, along the railway line to Tschamut
