Directions
Continue along this trail, passing through the Riefawald with the Tomülhorn towering above. Follow a series of switchbacks to the Pradätsch (1,953 m). Enjoy a stunning view out of the valley over the Tödi Range and looking into the valley towards Zervreila and over numerous mountain peaks in the Adula massif. Following the gently sloping trail leading up to the Tomül Valley, you will arrive the Riedboda (elevation approx. 2,030 m). Crystal clear water (Tomülbach stream), cotton grass and lush meadows are what make Riedboda so attractive. From this valley floor the trail climbs up the valley slope to the Lochli. Walk across the graceful masonry arch bridge that spans the stream flowing from Chli-Tomül (Little Tomül), and you will arrive at the main grazing level of the Tomül mountain farm (2,179 m).
From the farm, take the pass trail northward to the stream that flows downhill from Tomül Pass. Cross the stream and follow the trail to Tomül Pass (2,450 m), which marks the border to the municipality of Vals. The trail over the pass and across the mountain pastures and meadows is in good condition and it’s an easy walk via the Falätscha mountain farm to the Turrahus (inn) in the Safien Valley. You can either return on the same pass trail or by the postal bus service via Safien-Turrahus to Versam, then by train to Ilanz and then the postal bus service back to Vals.
Ascent: 3 hours 45 minutes
Descent: 2 hours
Time: 5 hours 45 minutes in total.
