Description

The Via Capricorn leads in 3 stages across the area of the Safien-Rheinwald ibex colony. On the 3rd day you climb steeply up to Alperschälli. In the region of the ibexes you will find crystal-clear mountain lakes and enjoy the view down to Schams.

Geheimtipp

At weekends from July to October the alpin Beverin bus runs from Wergenstein up to the Anorosa Alp (Tguma car park). With this possibility the walk can be shortened by a few kilometres and especially a lot of elevation. www.busalpin.ch/

Sicherheitshinweis

Sure-footedness is required. The tour is not suitable for small children.

Sturdy shoes and weatherproof clothing required. Binoculars recommended for observing wildlife.

The standard equipment on the Via Capricorn includes good shoes, a water bottle and a warm jacket for higher altitudes, but above all: binoculars. At the latest after the steep ascent from Alp Biggenmad up to Alperschälli, the binoculars should be ready to hand. This is where the ibex can be observed particularly often.

Capricorn exhibition

The capricorn exhibition in the Center da Capricorns in Wergenstein imparts exciting and interesting information about the king of the Alps. The ibex was reintroduced 60 years ago in the region of the nature park and there are now about 300 animals.
