Winterwanderweg Thalkirch

If you are out and about at the very back of the wintry, secluded Safiental, you will quickly be surrounded by a relaxing tranquillity. The wide valley floor is framed by imposing mountains such as the Wisshorn, the Schwarzhorn and the Gelbhorn. At times you feel like you're in an amphitheater. The winter hiking trail starts in Thalkirch, Turra and winds along the valley floor to z'Hinderst, as it is also called there. In front of your eyes is an imposing rock face, which is used by daring athletes for ice climbing.

Somewhat strange in this otherwise idyllic landscape is the striking equalization basin of the Zervreila power plants. On the way, you can enjoy a beautiful view of the Walser scattered settlements typical of the Safien Valley. The view extends as far as the Camaner huts, which form contrasting dots in the snow like a string of pearls.

In the Turra exhibition stable of the Safier Ställe association, you can learn interesting facts about the settlement of the Safien Valley and the wooden buildings and stables typical of the valley. You can even lend a hand yourself and try covering a roof with shingles.

In the nearby Turrahus mountain inn or in the Gasslihof inn, you can quench your hunger and thirst with fine regional delicacies.

Please pay attention to the signs. The winter hiking trail runs together with the cross-country ski trail in places. The cross-country skiers thank you if you don't hike on the cross-country ski track.
