Description

From Alp Grüm train station, walk up to the Hotel-Restaurant Belvedere. From the terrace of the Belveder you have a spectacular view of the Palü Glacier in the west, the Bergamask Alps in the south and the Piz dal Teo, Vetta Sperella and Sassalbo in the east.

A comfortable path leads to the Poz dal Drago ("Dragon Fountain"). From here, turn right onto the hiking trail that leads down through the larch forest into the Val da Pila.

Here a small detour to the Lagh da l'Ombra («Shadow Lake», 1995 m above sea level.M.), a beautiful mountain lake hidden between the trees, is worthwhile. Allow half an hour more than the time specified for the hike for this detour.

From this mountain lake, take the path that previously left and continue your descent along the Val da Pila, a narrow valley nestled in the Campasc wildlife rest zone. With a bit of luck, you can see the chamois moving between the rocks high up.

The comfortable path leads slightly downhill along the Acqua da Pila stream and under the imposing viaduct of the Rhaetian Railway to the village of Cavaglia and the Rhaetian Railway station.

Before taking the train to the north or south, we recommend a visit to the glacier garden to visit the extraordinary glacier pots and the gorge path in the Orrido di Cavaglia.

Geheimtipp

The start and destination of the hike are very easy to reach by train.

Quiet variant to the heavily used and biker-driven hiking trail from Alp Grüm via Stablini to Cavaglia.

A short detour to the Lagh da l'Ombra is worthwhile.

In Cavaglia, a visit to the glacier garden with the Orrido di Cavaglia gorge path is worthwhile. More than 30 glacier mills and the spectacular Cavagliasco Gorge await explorers here.
