Fuorcla Salet

From the PostBus stop, you will pass through the well-kept and beautifully situated Engadine village of Tschlin. At the exit of the village, turn left before the church. On the forest road you master the first meters of altitude. At the level of the tree line, the path changes over the Incision Val Sot to the grass flank further east. From this level, the path rises steadily and the meadows gradually turn into rock. Early on in the ascent, the clear cut of the Fuorcla Salet can be seen on the horizon.  This saddle is located between the Piz Salet and the slightly higher Piz Malmurainza. The Fuorcla Salet is the highest point of the hike. Before the descent you can once again enjoy the foresight over the Lower Engadine. Directly opposite the Fuorcla rises the Piz Lad, at the foot of which (where the bush forest turns into rock) lies the three-country point Switzerland/Italy/Austria. The descent leads first through a scree field. Via the Munt da Plaz you finally reach the stream at the bottom of Val Sampuoir and cross it at the same time. Following the course of the river you soon meet an alpine road, following this you soon reach the forest and finally to the hamlet of Acla da Fans on the Samnaunerstrasse. From Acla da Fans, PostBuses run every 2nd hour (consult timetable!) to Samnaun or via Martina to Scuol.
