Description
In good wind conditions, many colourful kite surfers, surfers and sailors cavort on the lake of Silvaplana. A first-class sporting spectacle. Maloja, Sils and Silvaplana are popular and traditional summer and winter holiday resorts on the Upper Engadin lake landscape. The tourist centre of the Upper Engadin is St. Moritz, world-famous as a spa and winter sports resort. In 1928 and 1948 St. Moritz was the venue of the Winter Olympics games. The cycle route from St. Moritz to Celerina runs past Lej da San Murezzan and the idyllic little Lej da Staz or directly along the "Charnadüra" gorge of the Inn. Not to be overlooked is the prominent church of San Gian, situated on a hill, the oldest part of which dates from the 13th century. The route continues via Punt Muragl and past the airfield to the idyllically situated Lej da Gravatscha and from the holiday resort of Bever to the proud pass village of La Punt Chamues-ch at the foot of the Albula Pass.
From La Punt you first drive along the golf course to Zuoz and then along the main road until you reach S-chanf. There the Inn cycle route branches off over to the village of S-chanf. Past the beautiful Engadin houses and the reformed church, you will reach the other side of the Inn via the bridge at the end of the village. Follow this road through a beautiful coniferous forest up and down to Zernez. In between you will cross the border between Upper and Lower Engadin.
