Description

The forest reserve has an area of 15 square kilometers and ranges from 450 m a.s.l. to the edge of the forest, at an altitude of 2200 m a.s.l.

To visit the Cama forest reserve, we start from Ogreda. After a challenging climb, you reach a splendid bucolic valley where the well-known Lagh de Cama is located at an altitude of 1200 meters. A real emerald jewel, set in the majestic Swiss mountains. Directly at the lake is the Alp de Lagh, where you could meet various animals including cows, goats, sheep, woolly pigs and chickens. From the Righetti-Fibbioli Hut, located beyond the river, the path begins that climbs higher and higher, overlooking the lake in the direction of Alp de Vazzola. From the Segnale pass, a breathtaking panorama opens up that shows a natural amphitheater formed by Pizzo Paglia and Sass Mogn, which crowns the upper part of the Val Leggia. You cross the beautiful sun-kissed valley to reach the Torrion pass at an altitude of 2003 meters, just above the Alpe de Lugazzone which allows access to the Val Grono. From here you continue downhill along the lower and wooded part of the valley, where you will meet several huts, all in perfect condition. Continuing from Ruscada, the path continues straight on to Moncuch, located at an altitude of 1000 meters. After long traverses and a few hairpin bends, you reach the suggestive Carmel Chapel, located at 685 meters above sea level, which at the time served as a refuge for passers-by. From this point the path winds with wide hairpin bends, leading to the village of Grono.

Geheimtipp

On the sun terrace of the rustic Alp de Lagh with a view of Lake Cama, you can enjoy a good coffee, a homemade cake or a cheese platter.

By train to Bellinzona or Thusis. Postbuses depart from the two locations every hour to Cama. In the village of Cama, you turn off the main road onto a small road. The road leads over the bridge of the Moesa and the motorway to the hamlet of Ogreda, where there is a nice parking lot at the edge of the woods. From here the path to the forest begins.

Anreise Information

For those arriving from Bellinzona, take the Roveredo motorway exit. It then continues on the cantonal road to Cama. In the village, turn right from the main road into a small road.
