Description

From the mountain station of the Fanas cable car, a single trail leads past high moor over alpine pastures uphill to Luderer Egg. On this ridge you turn sharply right into a wide basin, which you first cross downhill and then in constant up and down. Then it goes downhill again to the Valser Bach, over which a small wooden bridge leads. Past the Vordersäss it goes towards Golrosa. Here you can enjoy fantastic views of the Kirchlispitzen and Drusenfluh. At Fadurer Fürggli we change to the other side of the mountain wreath, where a meadow path with many poisonous climbs leads back to the SE ridge of the Sassauna. Past the huts near Huoben, it goes back over an alpine path to the Berghaus Sassauna, which is located directly next to the starting point.

About the author:
Stephan Hugenschmidt is the winner and course record holder of the Eiger Ultra, Zugspitz Ultratrail and Madrisa Trail. Stephan lives in Grüsch and knows the trails in Prättigau like the back of his hand. He particularly loves in Prättigau that the trails are not overcrowded and you can be on the road for hours in an intact nature.

Geheimtipp

  • Technically experienced trail runners can still integrate the Sassauna into the tour:
From the starting point at the mountain station of the Fanas cable car, you cross on an alpine path to the huts near Huoben. The following ascent to Sassauna is crisp: first it leads along a ridge to a crossroads at 2000m. Here the path is lost, but if you head towards the SO ridge, you can't do anything wrong. On the ridge, the path is clearly visible again and winds steeply towards the summit. The descent over the west ridge is technically demanding and partially exposed, especially in wet conditions. From the Luderer Egg you can follow the described route...
  • Finally, treat yourself to a break on the terrace in the mountain inn Sassauna.
