Description

The Alpbüel (2022m) is not one of the great peaks in Prättigau, but thanks to the good accessibility from Pany a popular hiking destination. The ascent from the east and descent to the south can be combined to a magnificent summit crossing. The central location in central Prättigau gives the Alpbüel one of the most beautiful panoramas in the entire valley: from the limestone walls of the Rätikon in the north to the Silvretta and Davos mountains, the southern Prättigau peaks to the view towards the Rhine Valley and beyond towards the Grisons Oberland and Glarus Alps. The southern slopes as well as the medium altitude ensure a long hiking season: usually possible from May to November.

Sicherheitshinweis

Hassle-free and well-marked hiking trails. In case of poor visibility, do not leave the marked route.

Ausrüstung

Good footwear, mountain hiking clothing adapted to the season and a map in your backpack are recommended.

Directions

From the centre of Pany, follow the yellow signs uphill towards Bova. Shortly after the Maiensässdörchen Bova, take the turnoff to the left in the direction of Alpbüel. Through the varied alpine terrain and over the short, gentle summit ridge you reach the summit.

To the south, the descent leads, first steeply, then more leisurely, down to Calondis and, with a few meters of counter-ascent, continues to the Maiensässdörfchen Tratza. There you have the opportunity to be pampered with local delicacies in the Tratza-Beizli from the end of June to the end of October. From here it goes leisurely through the open forests downhill towards the village of Pany.
