Description

We follow the continuously paved, low-traffic road into the Val Sumvitg. The long and cool tunnel in front of the small village of Val gives us a welcome cooling off on hot days. In the village of Val we continue to the Teningerbad, a former spa from the beginning of the twentieth century. As early as 1580, an Epsom salt-containing gypsum spring was mentioned and over the centuries it developed into a well-attended spa. Tempi passati!

Arrived at the weir, we drive to the other side after which we come back to the ascent route a little later. At the Ustria Val Sumvitg we now make a stop, it would be too bad to just drive past here. The museum dining room is reminiscent of bygone times, but you can also sit comfortably on the terrace. The icing on the cake now follows with the single trail to Surrein, for all those who are not afraid of technical driving. It is the old valley path on which the rich and beautiful used to be carried in their palanquins to the Tenigerbad.  The path is now a bit overgrown and has to be freed from debris again and again after heavy rainfall, in between great deep views into the stream bed are possible. An extraordinary end to the tour!

Geheimtipp

The single trail in the lowest part can be omitted. Return through the tunnel.

Sicherheitshinweis

Illuminated tunnel at the beginning of the tour.

Directions

From Surrein/Sumvitg you can reach the Val Sumvitg. But for the time being we drive to Reits to the Rhine bridge. Before the bridge we turn left. The road is easy and mostly in the forest to the Tenigerbad at 1305 m above sea level.M., which is already the highlight of our tour. On asphalt we cross the Rein da Sumvitg and continue to the runcahez reservoir. On the other side of the dam, a natural road leads back to the Tenigerbad. From there we follow the ascent route to Val and afterwards on the hiking trail to Surrein
