Description

From Ilanz (698m MASL), the first town on the Rhine, you roll up the valley along the Vorderrhein. In Danis (845 MASL), the route turns off to the right and there is a short, sharp climb towards the idyllic villages of Capeder and Schlans (1,153 MASL). the short descent to Trun (855 MASL) gives you a chance to re-energise. From Trun, you go down towards the valley for a short while before the road branches to the right to Obersaxen. The climb is continuous, and you will look in vain for any steep slopes. The beautiful, tight hairpins invite you to stand up on the pedals, but beware: you have to gain about 400 metres in height. It is worth saving your energy. The hilly road through the villages on the high plateau with its grandiose panoramas is a real pleasure. The highest point of the tour is in Affeier (1,290 MASL) and it is all downhill from here. The descent is gentle to begin with and is then rapid as far as Ilanz.
