Description

"Via Panoramica" or "Sentiero Panoramico" - who cares for names? The path leads through lush and wildly romantic nature on the sunny side of the Bergell from Casaccia to Soglio. Here, spectacular views of the rugged three-thousand-metre peaks that separate Bregaglia from Italy open up again and again. Basically, it is easy to walk; but the differences in altitude of 464 m up and 825 m down should not be underestimated.

For those who would like to walk the entire panoramic path, on the second day, from Soglio continue towards Savogno.

Geheimtipp

A stop at Alp Durbegia - a small bistro that is open in summer and serves coffee and cakes, fresh drinks and food - is worthwhile.

Sicherheitshinweis

Due to an acute risk of rockfalls, the original route between Roticcio and Vicosoprano is closed until further notice. Until this route is open again, the trail is alternatively routed from Roticcio via the Mulina campsite to Vicosoprano and from there to Durbegia.

Ausrüstung

Hiking boots, rain protection, food from the backpack

Directions

From Casaccia, the trail leads to the west along the right side of the valley, passes over a bridge crossing the Maira River and continues through the flat meadows until you reach the reservoir in Löbbia. After the reservoir, follow the white striped markings that indicate the path. Once you reach the gentle slope of Barga, continue through the forest of conifers and birch trees to Roticcio.

To avoid the road closure between Roticcio and Durbegia, at the end of the village follow the descending path or the road towards Vicosoprano as far as the Mulina campsite. About 50 metres below the campsite, the route follows the path that turns off to the right, past the mill pond and after about 800 metres comes to a small forest road. Following the road uphill, you reach Durbegia and the original Sentiero Panoramico.

As you continue the majestic peaks rising opposite Bondasca Valley are increasingly awe-inspiring. After arriving at the edge of the forest, you cross the Valer River. A narrow path leads through meadows and forests to Pravis and then to Parlongh. The trail goes up and down, but it remains at a constant altitude almost to Soglio, where the trail rapidly descends. The trip takes about five hours.
An alternative route is the Via Bregaglia.
